 The Faith Hill Album Faith showed the first signs she was interested in crossing over to pop listeners.  The still countrified music did not always make her ambitions clear.  However, the single "This Kiss" made her approach clear.  It topped the country music charts for three weeks and became the first Faith Hill pop hit.  Husband superstar, Tim McGraw, shined in the type of commercial country music song lyrics predominant in his era. Tim McGraw sang Southern country music rock as well as adult contemporary pop ballads.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw both come from Southern backgrounds.  Faith Hill was born in Jackson, Mississippi, September 21, 1967,  She was named Audrey Faith Perry.  Faith Hill grew up in the small town of Star, Mississippi.  She first performed at age seven.  As Faith Hill was growing up she was singing country music song lyrics in a style influenced by Reba McEntire.
                                                        


Faith Hill quit college at age 19 and moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music.She sang briefly with a Christian Gospel group called, the Steeles.  At this time, she had a brief marriage to music executive Dan Hill.  While singing country music song lyrics as a harmony vocalist for singer/songwriter/producer Gary Burr, Warner Brothers caught their act and signed Faith Hill to a solo deal.

The Faith Hill debut album Take Me As I Am, lead single "Wild One" was number one on the country charts for four weeks.  This made her the first female country music singer in 30 years to top the charts for that length of time with her first single.  Take Me As I Am sold over three million copies.

Tim McGraw had Southern roots from Louisiana where he was born on May 1, 1967.  He was named Samuel Timothy McGraw.  He grew up in Start, Louisiana listening to country music song lyrics as well as pop, rock and RB.  It was while attending Northeast Louisiana University that Tim McGraw began playing the guitar to accompany his singing.  During this time period he played at local clubs and then headed to Nashville.  After singing in Nashville clubs for two years Tim McGraw got a deal with Curb.  His first single, "Welcome to the Club" was a minor hit; however, his debut album failed to make the charts.

The Tim McGraw and Faith Hill high profile, much celebrated marriage that took place in October 1996, increased both of their star power.  They have three daughters: Gracie Katherine, Maggie Elizabeth and Audrey Caroline. One of Tim McGraw's most beautiful songs is My Little Girl, which he dedicated to his daughters.

After the popularity of the Faith Hill album Faith and the single "This Kiss," Faith Hill became not only a star in the country music world but was a true celebrity.  At this time she signed an endorsement with Cover Girl makeup.  "The Way You Love Me" reached #6 in the top ten and was there for 57 weeks.  It became one of the longest running singles in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. "Breathe was ranked as the #1 pop song in 2000.  It has become the song most associated with Faith Hill. 

In 1977 The Faith Hill and Tim McGraw duet "It's Your Love" from the Tim McGraw Everywhere album stayed at number one on the country charts for six weeks.  Another Faith Hill and Tim McGraw duet was "Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me" made number one on the country charts, though it did not meet the pop ratings of "This Kiss."  "Let's Make Love" was also a Top Ten country music hit for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.  The Tim McGraw album Set This Circus Down made number one on the country music charts and number two on the pop charts.
                                                        


Faith Hill and Tim McGraw being natives of states ravaged by Hurricane Katrina became angry over the issue of the hurricane clean-up.  According to ABC News Radio, the couple that rarely voice political opinions pulled no punches when asked about the hurricane clean-up.  Tim McGraw openly criticized President Bush.  Faith Hill said,"I fear for our country if we can't handle our people [during] a natural disaster."  They joined a mission to take supplies to Gulfport, Mississippi after the hurricane.  Tim McGraw is a member of the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet.

The Carrie Underwood Faith Hill CMA Awards controversy in November 2006 made entertainment news.  Faith Hill appeared to become angry when losing the Female Vocalist of the Year award to Carrie Underwood.  Faith Hill threw up her hands as if she had won and then mouthed, "What," at the  camera after Carrie Underwood's name was called.  At a later date Carrie Underwood appeared on Oprah and said she knew Faith Hill meant no ill will and that Faith Hill had called to congratulate her and make sure there were no misconceptions.

There is no doubt about the popularity of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw touring together.  In 2000 their Soul 2 Soul tour was one of the best grossing concert tours of the year.  In 2006 their co-headlined Soul 2 Soul II tour became the highest grossing --- over$89 million --- country tour of all time.
